VALLEY WALK TO EMMAUS
SCHOLARSHIP POLICY
The Valley Walk to Emmaus Board of
Directors wants to offer any person an opportunity to attend the
Walk to Emmaus or to serve on an Emmaus team regardless of their
ability to pay as long as there are funds available in the
treasury. The following guidelines should be followed to request a
full or partial scholarship for a pilgrim, clergy or worker:
- For a pilgrim, the sponsor should inform
the Registrar during the application process.
- For clergy and workers, a request should
be made to the Week-end Lay Director.
- The Registrar or Week-end Lay Director
should make the request known to the committee within the Board
of Directors who will vote on the appeal. The committee will
consist of the Board Chair, Treasurer, and Registrar.
- If approved, the Treasurer will handle the
payment records accordingly so that the individuals are listed
as “paid” at the time that payment is due.
- Clergy may request one full scholarship a
year
- Clergy will only pay half price for each
walk that they work.
- Team members may request one full
scholarship per family per year or two partial scholarships per
family per year.
- Pilgrims will be given priority over
clergy and workers if funds are limited.

SPECIAL NOTE TO ALL MEMBERS
OF EMMAUS:
Many of you have
indicated that you would be happy to donate to a scholarship fund.
The treasurers have set up a separate account for scholarship
donations for that purpose. If you would like to make a donation,
just make your check payable to Valley Walk to Emmaus and designate
it for the Scholarship Fund.
